Lots of lovely flowers.....

.....but not the fruit bearing variety!

Ooops!

The gang had moved on a level and were enjoying camping out all night.

Unfortunately the group leader didn't fancy being battered by the North East hooley and sudden drop in temperature so apart from providing drinks I paid them little heed.

With balcony doors flung open this morning I noticed buds of yellow flowers!

Poor chaps! I presume they had run out of root space so brought the girls into play way too soon.

Permanent housing has been provided.

I await another jungle.

9th April Day Trippers

Time for the boys to have a few day trips to get used to the great outdoors.

Whooosh!

See how they grow. The largest two are potted on already to give to my brother and sister in law for their new garden. I hope they like courgettes!

Courgettes

Oooo!!! Signs of life already! This bodes well for a July crop - fingers crossed.

2011 Courgettes

The 2011 home grown veg attempt is on, Wilkos black beauties have been lovingly tucked in. I've planted the seeds a month earlier this year hoping for a better crop than last summer.

Crop Failure

After an unhappy summer and a much needed break spent sky watching on a hill in Wales, I returned home to the inevitable. My veg had missed me.
It was a fun experiment if a little ambitious, an east facing balcony and no watering-can fairies wasn't the best combination for a heaving veg rack, but those three courgettes were the best I've ever tasted.
